Description

The island is covered by our safari, from the south to the north and back. We take a journey through the diverse terrain. The plains on the eastern side merge gently into peaceful days and golden beaches, to the western side. The mountainous side has cliffs along its coastline. The safari includes both on and off driving. All guests will be collected from our office at a prearranged time and will then head towards our hotel. Just inside Laganas is the starting point. Instructions will be made here and safety procedures will be covered. Before we set off on safari, there will be a brief briefing on the day's itinerary. The historic Venetian church tower in the charming mountain village of Kiliomenos is our first stop. Heading off track, we visit the village of Loucha and Giri, which is the smallest village on the island, with only 20 people. We'll take a quick coffee break at around 10 a.m. Our next stop is at Vrachiona, the island's highest point, where you can view the whole of Zakynthos, Kefalonia and the Greek Islands from a height of 1000 meters (3000 feet).

We head further north to see the cross of Kampi and learn more about its past. You have two choices at 12:30. You can bring your own lunch or indulge in Greek cuisine at special prices for our guests. After our lunch break, we drive through Exo Chora, where you will see the oldest olive tree on the island. We have a short stop just outside of Anafonitria. There is a local wine tasting and you can see some of our products such as rugs, lace, honey, and wine. The most famous sites around the world are the shipwreck and the deep blue sea of the Ionian Sea. Continuing on through the village of Volimes, our next stop is a swim in the crystal-clear waters. The waters of Makris Gialos and a photo shoot at the famous natural sulfur spring called Xigia. We go to the salt pans of Alykes, which are collected naturally. The tour will conclude at 4 p.m., when we will have visited the villages of Alykanas, Amoudi, and Gerakari. Kalipado takes in the sprawling olive and lemon groves lining the picturesque Zakynthos landscape. Our drivers and guides will share with you Zakynthian history and local stories throughout the day. We can stop on request in any of the villages we are passing through to take pictures.
